Spanish archaeologists discover tomb and mummy of 'Amun Singer'

Cairo, Dec 8 (EFE).- A delegation of Spanish archeologists in Luxor, southern Egypt, unearthed a well preserved sarcophagus from the tomb of Minister Amenhotep Huy, with the mummy of "Amun's Singer" inside, which dates back to 3000 years.
The Director of the team of experts Francisco Martin Valentin told Efe that the discovery is rather important because it is not common to find a mummy inside a sarcophagus due to theft and looting.
Martin Valentin added that the coffin and the mummy, which dates back to 2000 years Before Christ are in a very good condition.
The Egyptian Ministry of State for Antiquities announced that the sarcophagus is dated to the Third Intermediate Period (100-900 BC), and has a unique style that was common during the reign of the 21th dynasty.
Abdel Hakim Karrar antiquities Director General in Upper Egypt explains that the sarcophagus is carved in wood and covered with plaster and the mummy is wrapped in sheets, while it had its arms crossed and its facial features are carved perfectly.
